Early County Sheriff's Office receiving Drug Terminator

EARLY COUNTY, Ga. (WTVY) – The Early County Sheriff’s Office received a special gift on Tuesday, May 16th to help in the fight against drug abuse.

Early County Family Connection gave the sheriff’s office a mobile drug incinerator. They received funding from the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration in 2012. Recently, they got permission to purchase the $5,000 drug terminator.

In the past, sheriff’s office personnel had to travel and spend money to dispose of drugs at a different location. Now they can do it without leaving the office. State Representative from District 151 Gerald Greene was there to celebrate the milestone.

“Early County is way ahead in working on this problem. We just want to support them and make sure the people of this area understand the good job that they are doing,” said Greene.

You can drop off your expired medication at the sheriff’s office or the courthouse in downtown Blakely.
