Does this unit meet requirements to burn narcotics in my area?
The Drug Terminator has an exemption by the Federal EPA when used by police departments to destroy narcotics (40CFR Part 60). However, State and Local requirements vary so it is highly recommended you check with your local air quality office prior to purchase.
How often do I need to replace the drum?
The Drug Terminator uses a standard, open-head 55-gallon drum. With every day use the drum will last 6 months or longer. Most departments do not use the unit this often so the drum will last considerably longer. However, keep the unit covered or stored inside when not in use as rain/moisture in the drum will cause it to rust very quickly.
Do I need anything else when I purchase the unit?
The Drug Terminator includes everything you need to begin burning except wood or charcoal to start the fire. These are easily found locally and either work equally well with the unit.
Why do I need to wrap the narcotics in paper before injecting it into the drum?
The lid of Drug Terminator is made of stainless steel and is generally around 800F or hotter during operation. As the narcotics and other material pass from the Easy-Feed Cartridge into the drum, they slide past a trap door on the lid. If any plastic is exposed, it will stick to this trap door instead of safely sliding into the barrel for destruction. The paper (paper sacks, newspaper, etc) wrapped around the narcotics in the Cartridge allow everything to easily slide past the lid and into the drum.
